Describe a success your friend has had that you are proud of.
You should say:
Who your friend is;
When it happened;
How easy or difficult it was to achieve;
And explain why you thought this was a success.
18. 朋友成功的經(jīng)歷
Well… off the top of my head, the first thing that comes to mind is that last year, my friend Tom won an award in a college math competition. Tom and I have been close friends for many
years. Besides the fact that we went to the same high school, I live practically within spitting distance of his house and I hang out with him a lot, so it’s safe to say I know him pretty well.
Anyway, Tom is majoring in computer science at his university. It’s hardly an exaggeration to say that he’s a straight A student. And he especially has a knack for math, which is the reason why he participated in the college math competition. Not too long ago, he posted a photo of him having the first-class award of this competition by winning third place. Of course, he got a ton of likes.
It’s not a big surprise to me that he could win it. You know, when he was in high school, he was always chomping at the bit124 to solve all kinds of complicated math problems. But I guess he must have put so much effort into125 preparing for the competition.
As his friend, I was over the moon when I heard about it and I was proud of his success. After all, not many people can achieve that, right? I believe this award will definitely help him build up his resume126 in the future.
124 chomping at the bit: 迫切地,很期待做某事(也可以說“champing at the bit”,但是前者更常用)
125 put so much effort into…:花了很多精力心血做某事
126 build up his resume:豐富他的簡歷(更容易在找工作或考研留學(xué)等方面幫到他)
