Hello everyone. It is a great pleasure to invite David from New Channel school to attend 51ielts's interview .So, ...start asking now...
david:hallo, my names David,,, I'm pleased to be here this afternoon.
網友 :Hello, david.I took the exam two months before, the total score was 6.5,however,the oral exam only got 5.5 which was below than my usual experience6.0.I will take the exam again in 3 months .I hope i can get 6.5 in oral exam.I think my pronunciation is good, fluency is ok.correspondingly, the grammar and vocabulary are not good enough.I will be thankful for your suggestion,i will do my best.
david:the only advice I can give you really is to speak as natural as possible, speak like a native speaker and not 'from a book' use terms such as I'm and not I am, I'll not I will, my names and not my name is,, don't forget you don't have to be perfect,,,no English speaker is perfect we all blend/ link words together,, and don't pronounce every word,, next week becomes nex week, last week becomes las year etc,, hope this helps,,, good luck
網友 :Hi David~I will attend IELTS on Feb.12th~So I do not have a lot time to do huge number work and to sum up sth. Now what I should do is efficient? How can I receive the great feedback~THX!
david:good afternoon, learning English is omething you reallt can't do overnight, it takes a lot of practice,, find your self an English partner to practice with,, listen to plenty of English films and listen to English music,, read English books, many language schools do intensive language courses which could help,so its not easy,, ok
網友 :hello, I took ielts twice half a year ago and there were three sections over 7 but speaking that were 6.5,so could you tell me what is the key difference between 6.5 and 7 in speaking and how should I improve it in the next one month. Your answer is deeply appreciated.
david:Hallo,,, looking at your question the first thing that stikes me is your word use 'half a year' not native English but book English, the normal term would be 'six months' ago so little things like this make a difference between getting a 6.5 and a 7, they might seem unimportant to you but the examiner wants you to speak 'English", pronunciation is not so important so long as you can be understood and understand English, we all have different accents, mine certainly is different from the run of the mill type of English, so conscentrate on using normal speech, use words you understand, for example Harmonious is not English, Happy is English, these are words that translate from Chinese to English.. Ok hope this helps a bit anyway
網友 :hi david im a oversea student for 1 and half year , before i came i ve got 6 on my test, now i need take test again . i dont have any confident to face this test and also i feel my english does not improve compare with before.. i got alot of stress now , could you give some suggestion for me
david:first of all, you are not alone, being nervous and lacking in confidence is the biggest problem,, everybody feels the pressure on the day,, but why,, there is really no need, its not an interview for a job, its only a test on your English speaking ability, so please don't worry, the examiners are only human no different than you or I, (they may look scary, but they are not really) take a deep breath before you enter the room, keep your eyes on the examiner,,don't worry if you make a mistake during the test,, its only natural, we all make mistakes,, although if you know you've made a mistake correct at that time don't wait until later and don't think the examiner didn't here you,,,,,, he did, look at the examiner as you best friend,, he is al that stands between you and a chance of a lifetime,, give it your best shop,,be confident,,,be brave and talk
網友 :David,i have a trouble for the 3rd part, can you tell me some skills?
david:The 3rd part is normally the most daunting, but really it is only simple questions mainly about the part 2 topic, make your answers as long as possible you have to talk for 80% of the time, study the part 2 questions and think of possible questions he could ask you, a few questions that keep cropping up are ones on the environment, study life etc. so be prepared for these, find a classmate to practice with, the part 3 is the least important of the test but needs careful consideration.. ok
網友 :老師您好,我感覺口語第三部分題多而且有時候很難有思路,那第三部分應該怎樣在沖刺時準備?
david:Ok,, yes I agree there are many possibilties as to what the examiner is going to ask you, far more than past 1 or part 2 but the main difference is we have a fair idea as to what questions in these first two parts but part 3,, maybe not, many web sites do give a good indication but they can't be 100% accurate but look at the part 2 question logically and think of all possiblities, anything that is remotely associatted with part 2 could be asked, ok
網友 :09年的雅思口語考試會有什么動向沒有?聽說雅思要進行機考,那口語怎么辦?Ok, as far as I am aware, the on-line version of the IELTS test is only in the pipe line so is not thought that it will appear in 2009, there is no indiction that this will ever take the place of an actual test but I know that in Cambridge they are doing some sort of trial but how far advanced they are or if they are seriously considering it is still unsure,, sorry could not be more specific
網友 :老師好,我口語上次考了6分,這周六又考了,因為要求是7分。上次考完后感覺還不錯,卻只得了6分。 不知道6分和7分的差距具體在哪里?短期或者說考場上能有什么拿分的技巧嗎?謝謝您。
david:how do the examiners judge the difference between a 6.5 and a 7 is really down to, at this level, is mainly to do with you word use (vocabulary) and your fluency you should conscentrate on speaking as near to a natural speaker as possible i.e the use of words such as I'm and not I am, you're and not you are etc. try to use your voice,,what I mean to say is raise and lower the tone, stress and intonation are what English is all about,, don't talk in a flat tone (Chinese) we can express even one word in may different ways but changing the tone of our voice,, thats English,, English is not about speaking,, its a feeling,, well so I think anyway,, good luck 網友 :老師您好!平時我和外教講話的時候很輕松自然,上次考試準備了很久卻很倒霉的碰到了個女殺手,還有個沒準備到的話題.我想知道的是,在外國人眼里,和母語非英語的人交流時覺得什么好什么不好?就是什么會使你們覺得不舒服,什么會讓你們覺得很閃亮? david:Ok,, to start with, please don't be put off by the examiners appearance, (you can never tell a book by its cover)they are really not as bad as you imagine,,, they just look that way :-) be polite to them, I mean, as they will say good morning to you say good morning to them it takes nothing to be pleasent, it takes more muscels to frown than it does to smile so smile be happy, ask they poitely if you are not sure of anything, use the name they gave you..i.e, "I'm sorry david but I misunderstood that questions could you please say it again" Ok,, easy isn't it, so don't worry 網友 :hello, david.i want to konw something about speaking?could you help me?i want to join in the exam in 2009 david:wow!!! this is the 6 million dollar question,,I could be here for about a week trying to explain English to you, but I think so long as you enjoy English it is half the battle, read a lot of 'good' English books, even 'Harry Potter' is a fairly good book, but books such as Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre would be better I think,, watch these two films, they are really good films and don't use to complicated words, listen to English Music, even try the radio, there are many programmes here in China to help you learn English, I suppose I must mention going to a good school even for a few days realy does work, it gives you something to work on.The questions during 2009 do seem a bit easier than last year so what are you waiting for,,, get studying... Thank you David,Thank you everyone!Happy New Yeay!See you next time!
david:Ok everyone,, I hope this has been of some help,, I hope you all have a very Happy New Year and come back ready to face 2009 with a smile on your face and IELTS 7.5 in your pocket
