由于中國學生長期學的是“啞巴英語”，所以雅思考試的口試成了眾多考生擔心的問題，怎樣在短時間內幫學生拿到一個理想的分數，上課的方法顯得由為重要。
1，幫助學生正確，透徹地分析評分標準。
正確地掌握考試的評分標準有利于學生把握考官出題的意圖，找出自己的不足從而改進。口試有4個單項評分標準，分別是fluency andcoherence(流利和連貫), lexical resource（詞匯）, grammatical range（語法）以及pronunciation（發音）。但是光看這樣一個干巴巴的框架性的東西，學生是很難把握具體考察的內容的，所以作為授課老師，要把這后面的“潛臺詞”告訴學生。比如，在fluency andcoherence項下，有一些表現肯定會失分的。有的學生說話是想到哪說到哪，毫無條理，這是口語考試中很忌諱的。如果你講話沒有條理，考官會覺得這個考生毫無邏輯性，思維混亂，所以建議學生在講到做一件事的步驟或者講到一個事情的幾個方面時，可以用上first, second, finally等顯示邏輯性的詞語，這樣往往有畫龍點睛的作用。舉個例子，這樣一個題目：What things are involved in yourjob? 如果這么回答：
I am an assistant, I have a lot of things to do in mydaily work, for example, I have to translate emails and documents,sometimes there will be exhibitions, I have to help with theexhibitions, and … I will arrange meetings for my manager and theclients.
這段講話條理很混亂，其實說的就是自己的工作主要包括三個方面，那么不防這么說：
I am an assistant，I have a lot of things to do in my daily work.
First， translating emails and documents,
Second, helping with the exhibitions,
